Rambu Solo Ceremony

Rambu Solo is a ceremony devoted to the ancestral spirits that have been transformed into deata. The ceremony was led by a tomina. A person's social status is crucial in organizing the ceremonies. Residents of royalty layers usually requires a long time with a ceremonial procession more complicated and animal sacrifices are more than ordinary citizens who tend to be simple.

The procession began with the ceremonial bathing the corpse, giving balm, then wrapped in a shroud, put in erong (crate), transferred to the reeds (small houses to store grain). Peti will be decorated with red silk cloth with gold trinkets. Heirlooms have deceased will also be placed in it. This ceremony will continue for several days in a row and on the 8th day will be massive cuts buffalo in Simbuang also called ronte (terrain). Buffalo meat that has been cut will be distributed to the villagers, traditional leaders and officials.
